Hi, this is Ssodong! Today I'm reviewing an old-school, hand-breaded pork cutlet (donkkas) spot tucked into a quiet Busan neighborhood: Jehyeonmo Handmade Pork Cutlet (제현모수제돈까스) in Jaesong-dong, Haeundae-gu.

Where It Is
Address: 162-28 Jaeban-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan (부산광역시 해운대구 재반로 162-28)
Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Closed every Wednesday)
Phone: +82-51-781-7959

This isn't a spot most tourists stumble onto — it's a real neighborhood restaurant near two local schools, so you'll mostly see students and residents grabbing a cheap, comforting meal.

Getting There
The place sits partway up a narrow, sloped alley in Jaesong-dong. It's easy to miss the turn at first, but once you're close, the big handwritten wooden sign reading "수타돈까스" (hand-pounded pork cutlet) is impossible to miss. There's room for maybe 1–2 cars right outside, but parking is tight — walking or public transit is the better call.

Menu & Prices
Classic Pork Cutlet: ₩6,000. Spicy or Cheese Pork Cutlet: ₩7,000. Set menus (cutlet + kimbap + jjolmyeon noodles): ₩7,000–8,000. Also on the menu: omurice, kimchi fried rice on a hot plate, dumplings, udon. Canned drinks: ₩2,000.

True to the old-school "gyeongyangsik" (Korean-style Western) donkkas tradition, they pour on a generous amount of brown sauce.

The Food
I ordered the spicy set and the cheese set. Both arrived quickly on big plates: pork cutlet drenched in brown sauce, kimbap with egg and crab stick, tangy jjolmyeon noodles, rice, and even a piece of songpyeon (rice cake) for dessert. Classic old-town donkkas comfort food, through and through.

The breading was crisp, and even though the cutlet was thick, the meat cut easily and stayed tender. The sauce leans salty-sweet, which paired really well with the rice. The kimbap and noodles helped balance out the saltiness — ordering the set instead of just the cutlet was a good call.

There's also a self-serve bar with diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) and pickled radish — a handwritten sign asks you to only take what you'll actually eat, which felt like a nice, old-fashioned touch.

Should You Go?
Jehyeonmo isn't flashy — no trendy interior, no gimmicks. It's a long-running neighborhood shop that does the basics really well at a price that's hard to find these days. If you're exploring Busan beyond the usual tourist spots and want an authentic, unpretentious meal, it's worth the walk up the hill.

Parking is limited, so plan to walk or take public transportation.
